A Conversation with a Tristan Petty - A Local Artist

Tristan Petty is a local artist and sculptor who creates highly developed characters and engaging landscapes. We were so excited to sit down with him and hear about his art and what inspires him.

Join us for a virtual Watch Party of an interview and gallery tour with Tristan on March 9th from 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Tristan will join us to answer questions. Click the button below to register or email John at jcanda@cvision.org with any questions.

You can see Tristan's art now through the end of March in our window display at our building on 2475 SE Ladd Street. The gallery is street-facing, on the corner of Division and Ladd-Tamarac Alley.

Tova Shares Experience of Nicholas and Children

The following was put together by our Housing Access Coordinator, Tova Hershman.

Nicolas Smith enrolled in the Housing Access Program in September 2021. He and his three young children had recently moved into an apartment with a roommate, but when the roommate ended up moving out unexpectedly, Nicolas was left paying the entirety of the rent on his own. With his sole income sources being social security, disability benefits, and TANF food stamps, the rent was much too expensive, and he was having trouble making ends meet each month. Odessa's New Job

Congratulations to Odessa!

With the support of her Community Vision Employment Specialist, Heather Hafner, Odessa recently landed a job as an Online Order Picker at Walmart in Delta Park. She has been learning her new role quickly and enjoys helping customers and learning new skills. Odessa likes being able to work close to home and at a store she is familiar with.  Working 4 days per week with her new job allows time for Odessa to continue taking art classes that she loves and at the same time, will help her earn money she wants to achieve her many future goals!

Speaking of her art, check out Odessa's work at the recent exhibition at North Pole Studio.

An enormous thank you to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for supporting the expansion of our Smart Home Demonstration Room in The AT Lab. With their generous contribution of $25,000, we will be able to purchase a selection of devices and systems to have available in our Lab for people to test out. We will also be able to pay people to test out devices during set up of The Demo Room and conduct an in-home assessment and implementation pilot with three people. Lastly, it will allow us to create a video tour of The Demo Room, so people can see the devices in action without having to actually travel to The Lab.

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project!

Through their Community Programs effort, the Portland Trail Blazers offer CV spare tickets to games. Our folks love the chance to cheer on their Blazers with all the other fans! See more pics of Steve M's recent visit to the Harlem Globetrotters game at the Moda.

New Roles for AT Lab Team

Kim Elliott, previously The Lab’s Co-Director, has taken on the role of Community Vision’s Director of Programs & Services. She will continue to work closely with The AT Lab in an advisory role. Carrie Luse has assumed the role of sole Director of The AT Lab. We hired an Assistant Director, Noelle Birky, who will work with Carrie and Sabine, our Accessibility Specialist, in The Lab. Noelle's skill-set is a great complement to the team, especially given our increasing work in early childhood intervention and literacy.
