Dear Community Vision Family,

Happy Spring! Longer days are here and our supported folks and team are itching to get out into the community. We were fortunate enough to have a couple great experiences this month, and are planning more coming soon! This month we are excited to share with you:

  • An interview with artist Tristan Petty
  • Pictures from our St. Patrick's Day Party!
  • A story about Lili, who is learning how to do math with support from our AT Lab
  • Upcoming events, including the return of our annual Golf Outing, Vision on the Green
  • A 3-year work anniversary for one of the folks we support!
  • And more...

Thanks for taking the time to learn more about what we are up to. We are so grateful for our friends and partners and hope to even see some of you soon.

The Luck of the Irish!

This month we were so excited to invite members of our community to the building for lunch and a St. Patrick's Day Party. We had food, games, music, and set up our photo booth for some smiles!

For many folks, it was the first time reconnecting in-person in months, if not years. You could feel the energy in the space and how important it was to be together.

Thanks to all who came, and those who volunteered.

Tristan Shares His Art and His Process

John Canda sat down with Tristan Petty and interviewed him about his art and what inspires him to create. A group of us watched the interview live this month and enjoyed a Q&A afterward the artist.

Thanks, Tristan, for sharing your unique and deeply interesting views with us and for the beautiful, but slightly dark characters and worlds you create!

Lili's Story Over the Years

Lili is a 6th grader whose family connected with our current Assistive Technology Lab Team many years ago. They provided seating solutions and other small adaptations so that Lili could be included with her peers at summer camp. They assisted her to program responses, questions, and even jokes into her communication device to tell at lunch, ensuring she had the full camp experience!

Currently, the team is supporting Lili to be more included in her school community and achieve her academic goals through the use of different tools and materials to access her education. In the picture, you can see a number of examples for math. Lili has numbers on her communication board, flashcard options, and operation icons. Lili loves math and also loves going to school and being with her friends!

Vision on The Green!

After a two-year hiatus, our annual golf tournament is returning! This May 19th, Vision on the Green will take place at the beautiful Langdon Farms in Aurora.

Join us as a team of four, a single golfer, or sponsor one of the 18 holes for $100! You can even volunteer too. It is always a super fun day! Hope to see you on the links.

Housing Access Program Hits Goal!

Our Housing Access Program hit its fiscal year goal 3 1/2 months early!

We are so proud to share that we have already found 24 people safe, affordable, sustainable places to call home this year alone.

And we still have a few more months until the end of the fiscal year.

Cannot wait to share our final total with all of you!

Celebrate Jonathan's 3 years at Trader Joe's!

You may remember hearing about Johnathan's first paycheck at Trader Joe's. Well, time has flown by and we want you to join us in celebrating with Jonathan...

He has been at Trader Joe's for 3 years!

He worked his way up and has been a cashier for a while now, and just like all staff members, he still does a little bit of everything, including stocking shelves and helping customers. When asked what he likes about working at Trader Joe's, Jonathan said "I've made new friends and we're like a big family."

The location he works at is right near his house and he even worked all through the pandemic. (Thank you, Jon!) It's been such a great fit for Jonathan and Trader Joe's!

He shared that his job "means being a part of something big and being a part of a giant family." We get it, we love having Jonathan as part of our CV Family too!
